Kalocsa Embroidery
My name is Ildiko. I have been making Kalocsa Embroidery for many years, since a very kind old lady taught me.
I always admired this type of needlework but I never hoped to acquire the art of doing it.
First I made only traditional coloured embroidery. Later I became acquainted with rare old white Kalocsa Embroidery. This style has become my favourite because of its pure white colour.
My collection of Kalocsa embroidery patterns is getting larger. I copy most of the patterns myself. The borders are all hand-fringed.
I always have a real sense of achievement when I finish a piece of my work.
